El camino review

It's not a bad movie, it's just not really a movie, more like an extended epilogue episode... and it is bland and tasteless.

With the rich backstory of the breaking bad universe, its characters and the things Jesse has experienced, there was enough material for an interesting movie.

For instance there is no reason for anyone to suspect Pinkman is still alive, so the manhunt is a bit silly.
Also Because Aaron Paul is a bit older now it would have made more sense to start off 10 years later as well and perhaps revisit characters instead of these silly flashbacks with characters who lets just say gained a bit more weight and wrinkles ...

It would be interesting to see how characters have moved on.

Skylar as a broken down mom, Walter Jr as a crack addict, Walters daughter in a foster home ... Hank's wife committed suicide, skinny Pete a suburban loving dad, Badger a bank manager.
Grey matter going bankrupt and the couple split up...and the man now works at pollo hermanos, which is owned by someone else now

And then the name Heisenberg pops up again and the blue meth comes back unto the streets ... Skinny Pete and Badger start using again.

Pete loses his family, Badger his job.

Skylar gets in the news because of it and due to her extreme experiences with the shame and a decade of poverty does what every former mobster has done and says she embraces jesus now, sells a few books, some talkshow appearances...the works.
She gets things in order again, regains custody of her daughter, puts her son in rehab.

There is a cop who is alone in thinking there is some connection with the Walter White case 10 years ago and does some investigating ... thing is that you don't see Pinkman throughout most of the movie, you just hear about some new guy , being ruthlessly effective in becoming the biggest supplier in the market.

And you see some news bulletins of violent extermination of the competition, one of which involves a guys face being burned of with what forensic experts suspect to be a blow torch.
Fast cut to pollo hermanos where the former owner of Grey Matter now works, whom upon becoming employee of the month hears he is invited to the new owners house for a dinner to discuss his future.

He arrives at the house and is being received by a butler who brings him to a room to wait ... in walks Pinkman ( who now has a different name) holding a blow torch asking the butler to store it away before he sits down and says something like " so mr ...? Let's discuss your future at Pollo Hermanos.

So instead of Jesse trying to run away from his crimes, due to his experiences now has fully embraced his darker nature and perhaps in the closing scene show that something of Walter White rubbed of onto him when he speaks to a new distributor to partner with who tries to rip him off by stealing his meth, where he picks up one piece and says ... this is not Meth.
And he throws it on the ground.

When he walks out of the building to his car, we then see the cop investigating the case on his own taking pictures.

But in the end this is not what we got, instead of that we got a mediocre episode of breaking bad.
What it did show is that what made breaking bad great was the chemistry between bryan and aaron, because that scene in the diner was the only really nice thing of the movie
